Here's the new text and banner ad:

Ankhet is about adventure, trivia, politics, and community. Players are cast as Disciples, servants of the gods, who struggle to save the world from the ravages of the Apep Serpent. Disciples must build favour with the gods in order to gain the power needed to battle the darkness. Along the way they’ll have to contend with numerous challenges, temptations, and most importantly their fellow players. Unlike any other game of its kind, the forums are an important part of Ankhet. Some tasks require the aid of others and the complex web of alliances, rivalries, and treaties between the players and their Dominions (think clans) brings an element of politics and intrigue to the medium. While there are similar games, none place such significance on community, making Ankhet a truly unique gaming experience.

Check us out at:
www.ankhet.com

The Spolier Key!

Here's a little something extra for those of you who support the Ankhet Blogs. :)

The Book of the Dead:
Aside from the ability Hegira and an enhanced reward from beating Anubis, the book has other properties as well. It wards off Sphinx Liches and even influences the effectiveness of Resurrect and a few other things.

The Sigil of Ra:
Aside from opening the way to the Apep Aeon, it also makes you more likely to be visited by Genies and Djinns!

Progress!

Ankhet is an innovative role-playing game set amidst a world of ancient Egyptian fantasy. Combining elements from many classic BBS games, Ankhet has something for everyone. It’s a unique game where community and alliance building can be just as important as any quest or artifact. The game features many ways to advance from trivia to dungeon crawling. Even participating in the forums is rewarded. Ankhet has been in open beta for several months and new areas and material are being added all the time. Already hundreds strong, our community is growing and we’d like you to be a part of it. The game is entirely free. No ads, no pop-ups, no gimmicks. Come give us a try!

www.ankhet.com
www.ankhet.org
www.ankhet.net

So that’s the new text ad. Hopefully sometime in the next couple of months we’ll have a banner on places like The Straight Dope and maybe a few quirky places like Something Positive. If I could only find the time I’d post about the progress being made on Modules 3 and 4 (game expansions). 2.8 went live last weekend and 2.9 should be in place in a week or so. Anyway, I’m still here. The game is alive and kicking.

Hello!

Basically I’m the co-author of a new online game called Ankhet. It’s an rpg/trivia/political/community kind of thing that I think people might really enjoy trying. After months of work, we’re finally open for beta testing on about 9/17/06 and a friend suggested that I come here seeking people who might be interested. We don't have a budget for advertising (or anything else for that matter), so here I am.

Ankhet is difficult to classify. Like any good rpg you can play with or against your fellows, there’s a plotline which you dive into or ignore. Give it a try! What’s the worst thing that could happen? You’ll get hopelessly addicted and play a lot… no, wait. That’s the best thing. And no, before you ask, this isn’t some profit thing. The game is free. We don’t even have a donate link. No ads, no schemes. It’s just a cool game that we poured our hearts into that needs players. I hope that you’ll join me.

www.ankhet.com
